Smash: Ethique Eco-Friendly Tinted Lip Balm Product Review

An honest review of Ethique’s Nourishing Tinted Lip Balm in the romantic shade Sugarplum. This sustainable solution for dry lips and environmental consciousness is on my face daily. I love it for the eco-friendly features, including a chic cardboard tube and a vegan formula, that make it a standout choice for beauty enthusiasts committed to reducing plastic waste.

When I say I use this lip balm every day, I really do!

I’m a forgetful girlie, often leaving my house with a full face of makeup – except for my lips being chapped and bare by the time I arrive to work or school.

(How or why? Well, I don’t want to get it on my coffee cup or around my face if I’m eating)

The subtle tint allows for a quick lip look for when you’re in a pinch, and as a full-time student and bartender, I’m always in a rush.

Since the weather where I live is cold and dry, I figured: “Hey why not get a tinted lip balm to add some color and hydration at the same time?”

I’ve been eyeing the Ethique Tinted Lip Balm since I wrote the Glam Granola post.

About Ethique

Ethique is a sustainable beauty brand that aims to combat and minimize plastic waste. Best known for their innovative lines of plastic-free bar shampoos, Ethique takes care in packaging their products in durable cardboard.

More than just shampoos, Ethique has also expanded to lipsticks and skincare.

Sustainable Packaging

As of 2023, Ethique has saved over 30 million plastic bottles from oceans and landfills!

I initially bought this lip balm because of its sustainability and cutesy packaging.

It comes in a cardboard tube that allows for you to push the lip balm up, much like those push-up popsicles.

Vegan and cruetly-free formula

The shade is a light berry tint that pairs well with a nude or burgundy lip liner. It glides on smooth and lasts for hours.

It’s unscented and unflavored, which I personally don’t mind. My only beef with this product is:

Despite the “nourishing” claim in its name, the formula doesn’t do much for moisture. I always layer it over my usual lip balm, especially for these cold mid-western days.

This is the lip liner for my every day look:

Overall,

I give this Ethique Nourishing Tinted Lip Balm a 4/5.

Aside from the “nourishing” factor, this has saved my lips from looking dry and bare. Even on a no to light makeup day, it pairs amazingly with just shaded in eyebrows and mascara – giving you that liveliness and glow like you didn’t just wake up 20 minutes before school starts.

Thanks for reading!

Needless to say, I am thrilled about my first Ethique purchase! Aside from their iconic bar shampoos, they also carry lipsticks that I’ve been considering.

Stay tuned for more sustainable product reviews!
